Mingolini Guggenheim 1950's Italian Couture Brown Solid Beaded and Embroidered Gown and Jacket. This Italian couture fashion house was founded by tailor Sergio Mingolini and designer Carlo Gugenheim and was once a favorite of the high society women like Jackie Onassis and Babe Paley. This couture house was active between 1848 and 1968.
This rich chocolate brown evening gown is covered in hand-sewn heavy crystal bead beadwork to create floral designs. The hand sewn sequins and beading have an iridescent quality in the light. The gown has a built in long-line bra with couture petersham boning and hook closures. Hidden back zipper from hem to high hip as well as hook closures at the hem. Lined with 100% silk and nylon net lace. The hand-written label notes horse hair at the hem. The jacket is fully lined in crepe silk chiffon. The bottom hem is delicately scalloped. One hook closure at the neck followed by snap buttons hidden in the embellishments. Excellent vintage condition.
